TWAS Research Visit fellowship for Scientists of LDC

 


Opportunity Description

TWAS gives young scientists from Least Developed Countries the chance to visit research laboratories in Centres of Excellence in Trieste, Italy, in conjunction with the Lincei Academy and SISSA (please see below and also in the application form). Research proposals must be related to topics that promote the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and come under the umbrella of sustainability science (SDGs).

  1. To improve the research capability of bright scientists, particularly those at the start of their research careers

Eligibility Criteria:


🠆Have a master’s degree (or higher degree).
🠆Must be Least Developed Country nationals.
🠆Applicants must work in a Least Developed Country as a researcher.
🠆Research initiatives that fall within the scope of sustainable science will be given special consideration.
🠆Women scientists are urged to apply in particular.
🠆Applicants who have already arrived on the ground in the host country are ineligible.
🠆Applicants must prove that they will return to their home country after their Fellowship is completed.
🠆Application Form and all other required must be in English
🠆Applicants must complete and sign the application form before sending it to the TWAS Secretariat.
🠆Email applications are acceptable as long as pages containing signatures are scanned and provided as scanned documents.
🠆Applications that are incomplete or unsigned will not be accepted.
🠆Only applications in the scientific subjects stated below and on the application form will be taken into consideration.


Required Documents:

🠆Filled application form.
🠆Personal CV
🠆Passport scanned copy, even if it is expired (just the page with personal information is necessary);
🠆A declaration about scientific interests and future plans for sustainability science research in the home nation, specifically mentioning which SDGs are likely to be addressed;
🠆A complete list of personal publications (no reprints of articles)
🠆A certified copy of your MSc (or higher) degree;
🠆A recent invitation letter obtained through one of the above-mentioned suitable host laboratories, which should include the anticipated visit time (3 months) and mention the potential collaboration.

  • Contact a potential host supervisor to introduce yourself and discuss a possible visit’s research plan.
  • Obtain an acceptance letter from the potential host supervisor if there is an agreement.
  • Fill out the form below, attach any relevant documents, and email your application to the address below.
